What does International Women's Day mean to you?

How to celebrate in your community or workplace?

Today is International Women's Day, a special day celebrated around the world each year to honor and recognize the achievements of women everywhere. It was first marked in 1911, with more than 100 countries now celebrating it annually on March 8th.

International Women’s Day serves as an opportunity to recognize and acknowledge the struggles that many women have faced throughout history, including barriers to education and employment opportunities.

It is also a time when we can celebrate all that women have achieved over the years, from advances in science to political gains like having voting rights to women's entrepreneurship and business ownership.

The day has become an important opportunity to raise awareness about gender equality while also celebrating women’s accomplishments and contributions to society.

Today, people of all genders come together to celebrate women’s progress toward equality and empowerment.

For many years International Women’s Day has been used as a platform for highlighting issues like equal pay gaps between men and women or addressing gender-based violence in society.

In recent times however, we have seen how it is being used to promote entrepreneurship amongst female founders or encourage more girls into STEM fields such as engineering and computer science - areas that are traditionally male-dominated.

At its core, International Women’s Day is an incredibly powerful reminder that when we empower one another, we create a better future where everyone can thrive, regardless of their gender identity or background!

So let us take this moment to remember why this day exists, not just in celebration but also in reflection of what still needs to be done so that every woman can live a life free from discrimination or oppression!
